Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Anjali Damania sat on an indefinite hunger strike on Thursday demanding the resignation of senior BJP leader and revenue minister Eknath Khadse. Sitting in Azad Maidan with a handful of her supporters, she demanded a written assurance from the chief minister on the same. During the day, her former party members held a protest and also met the governor.

Damania and AAP have alleged that Khadse purchased land illegally in Pune and has received calls from Dawood Ibrahim. "Khadse has been lying. At first he said why would he accept a bribe of Rs30 crore when the plot is worth Rs5 crore. It was then proved that the ready reckoner value is more. Later, his aide accepted that he had jokingly asked for a bribe. The BJP said, 'Na khaenge na khane denge' (we will not accept bribes and not allow anyone to bribe). They now have to prove that," Damania said.

She added: "When we met the chief minister, he said that if we have proof, we should approach the court. Why should we approach the court? I already have four PILs pending. We spend so much money on that. They should do their job. It is the job of the government to conduct a probe on the information we have given. We demand that Khadse be removed from the cabinet, a three-judge fast track inquiry be conducted and it be completed in six months. If he is innocent, let him join the cabinet again. But if he is guilty, he should be punished. We also demand that the collector and SP from Jalgaon be removed from their posts because they have created an environment wherein no one can speak against Khadse. We will also reveal Khadse's account details."

Damania, who had met Anna Hazare earlier, also said that she will ask the crusader to support her cause from Ralegan Siddhi. "He was shocked and said that he will be talking to the CM and writing to the PM on the issue. Since he is old now, we would request him to fight from there (Ralegan Siddhi)."

Sanjay Pathade, an aide of Hazare's, said: "He will first look at all the documents Damania has given and then act on it."
