The Tamil Nadu-based Dalit political party Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) will protest in Mumbai on Monday against the murder of three members of a Dalit family at Javkheda- Khalsa in Ahmednagar.
VCK chief and former MP Thol Thirumavalavan, who was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Chidambaram constituency, is scheduled to participate in the agitation. His party has demanded a CBI probe into the murders.
In October, Sanjay Jadhav, wife Jayashree and son Sunil were murdered and their dismembered body parts were recovered from a well. Despite weeks of investigations, the police have been unable to attain a breakthrough and nab the culprits.
Shekhar Subramaniam, joint secretary, VCK, mumbai, said they had also organised protests in places across Maharashtra like Thane, Kalyan and Dombivali where Tamilians and Maharashtrian Dalits were expected to agitate. He added that they would raise awareness of the murders across India and the world in an attempt to get justice.
The VCK is also demanding that the Centre direct the Maharashtra government to immediately nab the accused and stringently implement laws for the protection of weaker sections. The party is seeking that the state grant monetary compensation and jobs to the kin of the victims.
