Dalai Lama was in Trimbakeshwar to discuss world peace and harmony among religions.
Sending a message of peace and harmony among various religions, Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama took a symbolic dip at Kushawarta teertha in Trimbakeshwar on Sunday.
Dalai Lama was in Trimbakeshwar to discuss world peace and harmony among religions. Along with Karshni ashram guru Sharananada, he took a symbolic dip at Kushwarta by sprinkling water on his head. "The brain — head and the mind — controls the thoughts and actions of a person and it is more important to purify it," stated Dalai Lama.
The Buddhist leader urged leaders of all religions to grow above self pride and ego and work to bring about harmony amongst all. The youth today, he said, should not forget out traditions and the rich culture and should take them forward.
"Kumbh mela is a big religious gathering, It should be taken as an opportunity by religious leaders to spread humanity and harmony," said Dalai Lama.
Meanwhile, the process of debriefing of police personnel and officers has begun as post analysis of the bandobast on the day of Parvani, the first Shahi Snan during the Kumbh Mela. While the hold and release mechanism of the bandobast worked very well making the mega event incident free, some learning points have also been gathered.
The police machinery had deployed 15,000 personnel, including specialised security forces that manned every road and lane of the city and particularly the core area of Ramkund, Sadhugram and the different ghats where the pilgrims took the holy dip. However, the low turnout of pilgrims for the first Shahi Snan made the police presence look excessive and hence became a point of criticism.
Guardian minister Girish Mahajan said, "The security and safety of pilgrims, the Sadhu mahants and the city was of prime importance. The bandobast deployed was in line with this thought. Changes needed will be implemented for the next parvani."
