Dahisar police have launched a man hunt for a 55-year-old booked for allegedly raping his daughter-in-law, a minor, on two separate occasions. The girl recently married the son of the accused, who lived with him at their Dahisar residence.

According to Dahisar police, the 17-year-old married the accused's son on June 4 this year and began living with her husband and father-in-law at Ketlipada in Dahisar (E). The minor's husband would work as a driver and hence, would leave home early for work and return late.

The girl, in her complaint, stated that on September 6, her husband woke up at 4 am and left for work by 4:45 am. "The girl's father-in-law was sleeping in the balcony at the time. After his son left, the accused crept into his daughter-in-law's bedroom and raped her. He then threatened her against disclosing the incident to anyone. On September 7, the accused again raped the minor after his son left for work," said inspector Uday Rajeshirke, of Dahisar police.

The minor finally informed her mother about the incident, but the accused then threatened the girl's mother as well. However, mustering her courage, the girl's mother finally called the police helpline, after which a police vehicle was sent to Ketlipada. The accused managed to flee the spot before he could be arrested.
