Dadar schoolgirl rape: Accused had porn clips on phone

The police have found pornographic clips on the mobile phone of the 20-year-old canteen attendant who was arrested for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl in a Dadar-based school on Friday.

"The accused told us the girl accidentally entered the boys' toilet, where he was loitering. He took advantage of the situation and sexually abused the girl. Preliminary examination of the victim revealed sexual assault, but the final report is still awaited," said an officer from the Shivaji Park police station.

The school was celebrating its annual day on Friday night, and the incident took place after the festivities were over. The Class V student had missed her bus and was waiting for her relatives to pick her up.

After her relatives showed up at the school, the victim narrated her ordeal, following which the accused was nabbed. The victim, who was admitted in a private hospital on late Friday evening, has been discharged.

"We have seized the mobile phone of the accused, which contains some pornographic video clips. He hails from Uttar Pradesh and had come to Mumbai around six months ago. He began working with a catering company that has a contract with the school as well the ground adjoining the school, which is rented out for wedding functions," said the officer.

The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused was produced before a metropolitan magistrate court in Bhoiwada on Saturday and was remanded to police custody till January 12.
