The father and daughter are all set to appear for their board examinations. While Sunil Tambe (44) will be giving his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board examination (commerce stream) starting from Wednesday, his daughter Harshali (15) will be giving Secondary School Certificate (SSC) this year.

Sunil, who works with BMC’s water department, has taken a holiday for his examinations. Sunil cleared his SSC with 63.80% in 2015. He was not alone as his wife Smita appeared for SSC too and passed with 57%. He later joined Milind night school and college in Parel. He stood first in SSC from his night school.

However, Smita decided to take a step back and support her daughter and husband.

Tambe said, “Since I cleared my SSC with flying colours, all my relatives encouraged me to complete my HSC. I took leave from February 14 for my board examination. My working schedules are in three shifts. Whenever I have got two shifts one after another, I made sure to study during free time. I always keep pocket digests to study along with me. My professors at the night college are very helpful. My wife is not appearing for HSC along with me like last time. If we had both gone to college, who would look after the kids, especially our daughter, who is also preparing for her SSC exams this year.”

Tambe completed his schooling in regional language. But his past work in the hospitality industry before joining BMC helped him cope with commerce studies in English medium.

Harshali, said, “I feel proud of my father and want him to complete his graduation.”
