In yet another tragic incident due to a cylinder blast, three people of the same family including two minors suffered severe burn injuries and all three are in a critical condition. The incident took place on Tuesday morning in Dahisar East's Rawalpada slum area where the Ravan family was living in a 10 x 10 sq meter room.

The three victims were identified as Meenakshi Ravan (40), who suffered from 90 per cent burns, Prachi Ravan (15), who suffered 60 per cent burns, and Chirag Ravan (13), who suffered 50 per cent burns. The victims have been admitted to Kandivali's Shatabdi hospital.

"The house had a kitchen in the same room where two gas cylinders were stored. According to the neighbours, the connected cylinder started leaking gas and within two or three minutes the family learned about the gas leak however another cylinder stored next to it led to a blast," said Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Sandhya Nandedkar.

"There was just a two-metre-wide lane leading to the victims' home thus it took more time to take them to the hospital. All three are critical. We are investigating why there were two cylinders supplied," Nandedkar added.
