A station diary entry was filed with the Cuffe Parade Police against Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials for allegedly cutting trees at Bayview Marina Garden. The entry was filed after complaint made by Cuffe Parade residents, who are at loggerheads with the slum mafias allegedly involved in developing illegal structures near Bayview Marina Garden.

The residents were shocked to find trees being illegally chopped and uprooted near their locality. When some residents objected to the trimming and cutting of trees, the persons involved in the act claimed to be from BMC.

Padmakar Nandekar, Secretary General of Cuffe Parade Residents Association, said, "The BMC officials were present in chopping and uprooting the trees on the behest of the slum mafias. The slum dwellers in order to encroach the land are cutting the trees so that they can develop more illegal structures."

"The trees are neither old nor dangerous and despite that the BMC officials chopped it. We have a green patch of land which has been protected by the CPRA because of the government shirking their responsibility to protect the land which belongs to the government (sic)," said Nandekar.

Kiran Dighavkar, Assistant Municipal Commissioner of A ward, said, "We will look into the matter and meet the residents to resolve their issues."
