On Wednesday Cuffe Parade residents stepped out to celebrate Makar Sankranti at the Bay Marina Garden. This was the third such annual event organsied by the Cuffe Parade Resident Association (CPRA).
Residents were provided with free kites by dna and they were delighted to spend a day reliving childhood memories and making new ones as they bonded with their children.

Jeet Gulati, CPRA vice-president, said, "When we got this plot of land in 2004 it was a bare sight, but now we have cultivated it into a garden where anyone can come in free of cost and enjoy a beautiful walk and a breath of fresh air."

Sheeba Gulati, wife of the vice-president, said, "It's such a pleasant sight to see families bonding over this festival and coming out of their homes and spending time together. It also gives us the chance to bond as a community."

Ten-year-old classmates Jash Jain and Sarisha Reniwala were extremely excited. "I love flying kites. It's a lot of fun," said Jain.

Rakesh Reniwal said, "It's a great initiative and it brings back many memories from the past. I'm from Harayana so I've flown a lot of kites in my time. It's great to be able to teach kids to fly them as well." For Mother-daughter duo Rishika and Meher Chachra, it was the first time flying kites in Mumbai. Asked about her experience, five-year-old Meher said, "Happy!"

The event was a great success as the park was full of families trying their hand at giving their kites a lift.
