Starting this Monday, office-goers and locals will not be able to use Gate 3 of the subway opposite the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The gate will be shut down for renovation work till September 10 and will be carried out by the A-ward of the BMC.
As part of the renovation work, the BMC has decided to change the existing transparent brown polycarbonate coverings of the four entrances to the CSMT subway, and replace it with toughened glass domes. The civic body, on Friday, started taking off the polycarbonate coverings from Gate 3.
The reason for this change is to compliment the heritage monuments in the vicinity. Kiran Dighavkar, Assistant Commissioner of A-ward said, "The change of coverings of the CSMT subway will be carried out one by one."
In a month's time, the work of Gate number 2 and 3 is expected to be completed. "After completing the work of Gate 2 and 3, Gate 1 will be shut," added Dighavkar.
