City Crime Branch sleuths have busted a drug syndicate and have arrested three people for allegedly being part of the cartel. The police have seized Mephedrone (MD) drugs worth Rs 1.18 crore from the arrested persons.
Those arrested have been identified as Salim Ahmed Khan, Noorul Huda, and Shamshuddin Ali Shaikh.
According to crime branch sources, they had received information about a person who would arrive near a bridge at Nargis Dutt Nagar in Bandra (W) with a consignment of drugs. The informant had told the police that the said person would be selling the drugs at the said spot to someone.
Armed with the information, a police team laid a trap at the said place and apprehended Salim Khan, a resident of Nagpada and electrician by profession. On searching Khan, police found MD worth Rs 15 lakh. The said contraband was then seized by the police.
"During the sustained inquiry, Khan revealed that more drugs are kept at his house at Nagpada. We then conducted the search at Khan's residence and found more drugs from there. Khan also claimed to have bought the said drugs from Noorul," said a police source.
