The Kurla magistrate court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of the bail application of corporate lawyer Janhavi Gadkar in want of the jailor's report on her health condition. The next hearing is scheduled on June 22. On June 9, Gadkar had dashed her car into a taxi on Eastern Freeway killing two persons and injuring others.

Advocate Niteen Pradhan informed the court that he would represent families of both the deceased. "We have full faith in the court as well as the prosecutor, but I am here for the very simple reason of assisting the court. My submission in the court would be only on the point of law," said Pradhan.

Arguing for the bail of the accused, advocate Mahesh Sabnis claimed that the jailor has not filed Gadkar's health report till date as was sought by the court. However, the police informed the court that the accused was taken to JJ hospital for a check-up and the reports were yet to come from the doctor's end.

Thus the matter was adjourned to June 22.

The people who were killed in the incident have been identified as Mohammad Abdul Sayyad (55), the taxi driver, and Mohammad Salim Saboowala (50), who was travelling in the taxi with his family.
Saboowala was travelling with his wife and three children, all of whom escaped with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Mumbai police said that they would intensify vigil at entry and exit points of Eastern Freeway which connects Chembur to south Mumbai.
