The MRA Marg police on Thursday arrested a 45-year-old employee of a courier company on charges of abusing, threatening a female customer and showing her obscene gestures at the company's Fort office.

Chetan Mahendrakumar Kheradia, a resident of Bora Bazaar Street, Fort, was booked under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the police, the female customer had sent a courier from the company's office at Nagindas Master Road on August 11. On August 18, she called up the office to inquire about its delivery.

The man who received the call identified himself as Chetan and told the woman to visit their office and collect the courier receipt. On Thursday, when the woman arrived at the office at around 3 pm, Chetan told her that system was not showing whether the courier had been delivered.

“This led to an argument between the staffer and the victim. When the victim inquired about his name, the latter replied that his name is anonymous. The staffer, later identified as Chetan Kheradia, then abused the victim, made obscene gestures and threatened her,” said an officer from MRA Marg police station.

The woman then informed her son, who then showed up at the courier office and dragged Kheradia to the police station. Kheradia was later arrested and sent to judicial custody by the court.
