A campaign, #NoRashDriving, has been initiated for young motorists in Nagpada and Madanpura. Rais Shaikh, the Samajwadi Party corporator, has started the campaign along with the traffic police.
"We are using videos by the traffic police in which they show the consequences of rash driving. The DCP has extended his support as well," said Shaikh. "Currently the focus is on Madanpura and Nagpada. Later I plan to expand it to Byculla. We are convincing youngsters not to indulge in rash driving as it is dangerous," he added. After Shaikh posted the rash driving campaign on Facebook, many people posted videos showing the consequences of rash driving.
Shaikh has also started the #RightToWalk campaign in the same areas. It focuses on having good footpaths for residents. The aim is to have an encroachment-free footpath. Last week the corporator held a meeting with BMC officials for better footpaths.
