The Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) police, investigating the case registered against Hari Krishna Pvt Ltd for allegedly refusing to hire Zishan Khan (22) due to his religion, are likely to record statement of the company's office-bearers. The police also plan to check the company's employee records to find out its staff composition.

The police, in the course of their investigation, will summon the top office-bearers to find out why Khan was discriminated against. "We have already started our investigation into the case and will be calling the staff and office-bearers to record their statement," said Kundalik Nigde, senior inspector.

After the controversy erupted, the company came forward and issued a statement, which said it has more than 50 employees from the minority community. "We have called for the records of the employees maintained by the company. We want to verify the claims it made, that it doesn't discriminate on religious lines," said an officer from the BKC police station on the condition of anonymity.

A case was registered at the VB Nagar police station on Thursday after Khan was sent an email by the company's HR department, in reply to his job application, which said they don't offer employment to non-Hindu candidates.

Later, the case was transferred to the BKC police station as the company is located in the business hub.
