Cops prepare sketch of assailant in DN Nagar firing case

DN Nagar police and crime branch has managed to prepare sketch of one of the two assailants allegedly involved in the murder of 48-year old Dhairyasheel Desai. Desai was stabbed, while his friend Sandeep Kava was shot at, on October 23 by two unknown persons at Desai's Andheri residence. The police have so far recorded statements of 17 persons, including Kava, but could not find any crucial leads.

On October 23, around 7.30 pm, two persons had stabbed Desai was stabbed and shot Kava. The police had recovered one empty pallet from the spot and had registered a case of murder and attempt to commit murder in this regard. Kava is currently being treated at Nanavati Hospital.

"As per Kava's statement, assailants were known to Desai. Kava claimed that when he had visited Desai's Manish Nagar residence at Four Bungalows, two other persons were consuming liquor with Desai. Desai wanted to leave for Khar for some work. After spending some time when Kava said he wanted to leave, one of the two other persons present shot at him and later stabbed Desai," said an officer from DN Nagar police station.

As per the description provided by Kava, the police have managed to prepare sketch of one of the assailants, police said. The said sketches has been distributed in all the crime branch units.

On the day of the incident the calls made to and made by Desai have been cross verified by the police. "We have recorded statements of 17 persons whom were in touch with Desai on the day of the incident. All of them are in Mumbai and nothing concrete has come out from their questioning so far," the officer said.
