The police have found torn pieces of clothes worn by the 25-year-old woman, who was allegedly killed by her husband and her body dumped in Malshej Ghat.

The Thokhavde police in Thane Rural recently found torn pieces of Divya’s top and jeans she was wearing on the day she was murdered.
The Mumbai crime branch arrested Rajput with firearms on November 30. During interrogation, Rajput said he had murdered Divya with help from his aides – Sanjeev Patil, Nitin Shinde and Jayesh Chavan – and dumped her body in Malshej Ghat. Rajput told the police that he was angry that Divya did not bail him out in a robbery case a few years ago and suspected her of having an affair, the police said.
After Rajput confessed of killing his wife, the Thokhavde police started combing operations in and around the ghat.
The skeletal remains and other articles were seized by the police team from a mosque near Malshej Ghat after two weeks of the operation. The police found skeletal remains of Divya on Sunday. “Initially, we found some skeletal remains such as bones of hands and legs from Malshej Ghat and sent them for DNA analysis, believing that they were Divya’s. We have also found pieces of her top and jeans which Rajput said were of his wife. We have sent the pieces of cloth for forensic analysis,” said an officer from Thokhavde police station.
Rajput, a notorious criminal, married Divya in 2009. The couple has a child. “Rajput convinced her to accompany him to Shirdi in a car on August 29. Chavan was driving the vehicle. They picked up Divya, took her to Dadar, then to Nalasopara and later Shinde and Patil joined them. According to Rajput, Patil slit Divya’s throat,” said a crime branch source, requesting anonymity.
