A 35-year-old murder case convict, who had jumped parole, finally landed in police net after nearly eight years. The accused was serving his sentence in Kolhapur prison in connection with a murder committed in Pune.

The arrested person has been identified as Fahimuddin Shaikh alias Guddu, a resident of Daighar village near Kalyan Phata in Thane. According to the police, Shaikh had come out on parole in January 2006 for 15 days. He, however, did not return. The prison authorities had then registered a complaint in this regard against Shaikh at Tilak Nagar police station in Chembur.

"We had received specific information that Shaikh would be visiting his brother Imran's residence in Govandi on Saturday. Accordingly, we laid a trap and apprehended Shaikh. We have learned that Shaikh has been shuttling between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai all these years on a fake identity," said an officer from Tilak Nagar police station.
