Rajendra Ubale, a senior police inspector, of Ghatkopar Traffic police chowky has been transferred and an inquiry was initiated by the Joint Commissioner of Police (traffic) after a lady constable attached with the Ghatkopar traffic chowky was abused by Ubale over the issue of attendance marking.

An audio recording of their telephonic conversation has gone viral and abuses can be clearly heard in the recording. In the audio, the woman constable can be heard pleading Ubale to not mark her absent for a certain day's duty since she had reported to work. However, Ubale was not willing to listen and had marked her absent.

Ubale can be heard telling her, "Absent is absent. Don't tell me that traffic is normal, don't you feel ashamed of taking your salary? You are not doing my household work. You can go and complain to Joint CP sir and DCP sir," he said and in a fit of rage ended the call. The woman constable then complained to Ubale's seniors, who immediately felt the need to initiate an inquiry.

"We received the complaint and have taken necessary action. Ubale has been transferred and an inquiry has been initiated," said Amitesh Kumar, Joint commissioner of police (traffic).
