The Suburban Mumbai District Additional Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum penalised Bata footwear for providing faulty shoes to its customers. The forum asked the company to get their products verified through the quality control section and only then bring it to the consumers so that the precious time and money of the consumers is saved.

Bhavesh Samani, a resident of Borivali, had purchased footwear for Rs1,499 in November 2011. He got it replaced in December as it has manufacturing defect. But, to his misfortune, even the second pair of shoes had manufacturing defects.

The complainant had to time and again approach the shoe store to buy new shoes. Finally, he filed a complaint with the consumer forum.

The forum asked the firm to file its reply, to which the firm claimed that the complaint was false and frivolous and held that that they were always consumer friendly.

The forum, however, after going through the evidence directed Bata footwear to compensate the consumer by paying off Rs3,500.
