Constable held for molesting woman inside SGNP

According to the police, the complainant is a resident of Kashigaon near Jari Mari Talao in Mira Road. A beautician by profession, around 3.30 pm on Tuesday, she had gone to SGNP with a friend. While the two were talking, Dalvi approached them and asked the reason for being at the spot. He allegedly demanded money from them.

A constable attached to DN Nagar police station was arrested on Wednesday, a day after he allegedly molested a 26-year old woman inside the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria has taken a serious note of the case and accused Prasad Dalvi might soon be placed under suspension, said the police.

According to the police, the complainant is a resident of Kashigaon near Jari Mari Talao in Mira Road. A beautician by profession, around 3.30 pm on Tuesday, she had gone to SGNP with a friend. While the two were talking, Dalvi approached them and asked the reason for being at the spot. He allegedly demanded money from them.

"When the two refused to pay the money, Dalvi in a fit of anger, grabbed the t-shirt of the woman, thereby outraging her modesty. The woman then shouted for help after which locals at the spot intervened, got hold of Dalvi and handed him over to the police," said an officer from Kasturba Marg police station.

As per the police, Dalvi joined the force as a constable in 2006. He stays with his family at Shivneri Chawl in Rawalpada area of Dahisar.
