Seeking to woo the fishermen community in this tribal region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said those seeking an account of his work in 60 days never bothered about fishermen rotting in jails and it was his government which took up the matter with Pakistan. Modi also launched an attack on the opposition, saying the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have created a 'scam' Maharashtra, but he wants to create a 'skill-developed' Maharashtra.
"Though Palghar is a newly created district, we will give full support to make it one of Maharashtra's best districts. For years, the Congress did not creat a ministry for development of tribal communities, but Atalji's government constituted a separate ministry for the development of the tribal community," Modi told the rally.
Stating that the fishermen of Palghar share a special bond with Gujarat, Modi added, "Fishermen of both these places are locked up in jails of Pakistan. After taking oath as prime minister, I took up this issue with Pakistan's prime minister and told them, 'You not only imprison the fishermen but also take their boats'. For the first time in the last 10 years, Pakistan has released over 50 boats and 200 fishermen. You are seeing how terrorists are beheading people, but we ensured that our daughters of Kerala returned home safely."
Modi further said, "Congress leaders ask what I did in the last 60 days, but have they ever said what they did in the last 60 years? If we have to make development, we have to create employment for youths. Congress-NCP made scam Maharashtra, but we want to create skill developed Maharashtra."
Corruption destroyed Maharashtra. Congress, NCP looted rich and poor and even robbed war widows of their homes and children of midday meals, he charged.
"Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi ruled the country and even Sonia Gandhi ruled it behind the scenes," he said.
Asking people to give the BJP a complete mandate, Modi added, "I am born in an ordinary family and Janta-Janardan is my high command. I will give answers to you for everything we have done."
