Congress MLA questions Poonam Mahajan's source of wealth

The Congress MLA from Vile Parle, Krishna Hegde, has expressed surprise at the huge assets declared by BJP candidate from Mumbai North-Central Poonam Mahajan. She has declared assets worth Rs 108 crore, there by making her the richest candidate in the city.

Poonam Mahajan, the daughter of slain BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan, has declared in her affidavit that she owns three flats in Worli, this includes a flat measuring 950 sq ft in Bhima Housing Society worth Rs 4.5 crore, a flat in Victoria Building measuring 1,728 sq ft worth Rs 11 crore, and a 2,883 sq ft flat in Raheja Legend valued at Rs 34 crore.

Apart from this, she and her husband Vajendla Rao, have gold, silver and diamond jewellery worth Rs 2.16 crore and non-agricultural plot measuring 1.15 lakh sq ft in Raigad district valued at Rs 1.9 crore. She and her family also have shares in several top companies.

When asked by dna on Monday about the source of this huge wealth, Poonam Mahajan said she would get back. However, she did not respond until the time of going to press.
