Alleging that the Devendra Fadnavis led Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena government was going for vindictive politics, leader of opposition in state assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil on Wednesday said that the government was acting against political opponents and shielding the guilty officers within the bureaucracy.

Vikhe-Patil was speaking at meet the press program organised by Mantralaya and Vidhimandal Waartaahar Sangh at the Mantralaya press room. He pointed out that the previous Governor had rejected the plea for including former chief minister Ashok Chavan's name in the Aadarsh case but the state government is sending the same proposal again to the new Governor. Vikhe-Patil, when asked about action against NCP leader Chagan Bhujbal, said that he would not comment since the matter was sub judice.

Vikhe-Patil said that one has to look at this matter with an open mind and it is not proper to pre-empt that there is scam. He said that the decisions were taken by the Cabinet during the previous government and it is not proper to presume that there is scam. He said that the truth would come to the fore after the inquiry. It was not proper to jump to conclusion at this juncture.

Vikhe-Patil said that on one hand Shiv Sena is part of government and on the other hand it is going for fund raising for the drought affected. He pointed out that if Shiv Sena feels that whatever government was doing was not enough, then it should put its foot down in the Cabinet and not by taking it to streets. Vikhe-Patil reiterated that complete loan waiver for the farmers was the only solution on current agrarian crisis in the state.
