The Early Childhood Association (ECA), India in association with Save The Children India (STCI) will soon come up with a common curriculum that can be adopted by all pre-schools in the city.
It's common knowledge that pre-schools are mushrooming in all corners of the city but they don't have a common curriculum. Each one of them follows their own curriculum and in some schools some lessons are taught which are not to be imparted to children at that stage. For example, multiplication are not to be taught till a child reaches the second standard.
Swati Popat Vats, president, ECA, said: "STCI works with BMC Balwadis and have 5,000 balwadis under them. They approached ECA with a curriculum and they want us to access, streamline and enhance it. We have reviewed the curriculum. We are meeting again next week to give them the points what are missing from it. The curriculum is being prepared in both Marathi and English languages. We will also make it in Hindi. Our aim is to launch this curriculum by February before the next academic year starts."
