Despite Bombay high court order asking Mumbai University to allow Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) third year students, who had to clear a backlog of more than five subjects to appear for the viva and practical exams of the 7th semester (which is taken in the fourth year), colleges haven't allowed students to appear for the exams. Colleges claim that they had not received any circular from the varsity stating the same.

When did the exams start?
The viva and practical exams began on October 27 (Monday). For four days, students were not allowed to appear for the exams. It was only on Thursday evening that colleges received a circular from MU allowing these students to sit for the exams.

Abhijeet Gahilot, a student of Datta Meghe, Airoli, said, "The MU should have immediately issued the circular to all colleges. But they only did so on Thursday evening."
Vaibhav Palav, Armiet Engineering of Asangaon, said, "We had to visit the official of controller of examination, to request them to upload the circular that will inform colleges that we should be allowed to give our exams."

Why the delay in issuing the circular?
Dinesh Bhonde, controller of examination, MU, said, "The copy of the court's order was not ready. So, this caused the delay in uploading the circular. Now, colleges can allow students to appear for viva and practical."
The colleges will have to reschedule the viva and practical exams for all those students who missed it. The dates of the exams would be announced soon.
