Co-op bank robbed of Rs3.66 lakh

A co-operative bank in Naupada was robbed of Rs3.66 lakh and the cops are on a lookout for the accused. The accused have also taken away customers' documents and a mobile phone. The incident took place between the intervening night of January 1 and 2 at Janapriya Sahakari, which shuts from 6.30pm till 10am.

Complainant Mahendra Subhash Dere, 38, the branch head, said the accused entered the office by breaking the main lock with some sharp object and then broke the treasure box, which contained the cash.

When the bank officials came to the bank the next morning, they found the shutter open and cash missing. The senior authorities were informed, who then lodged a complaint. A police official said, "We have registered the case and we are going through the details. We will also go through the nearby shops' CCTV footage. No one is arrested yet, further probe is on."
