Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said that the inquiry of the Monorail project was vested with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), and that the state would conduct a probe if necessary. He was speaking to media persons after inaugurating the 580-metre-long Northern arm of the Kherwadi flyover in Bandra (E). The arm is aimed at ensuring signal-free travel for motorists on Western Express Highway from Bandra to Dahisar.

Fadnavis also laid the foundation stone and performed Bhoomipujan of the 1.6 km-long elevated corridor between Bandra-Kurla Complex and Chunabhatti. Addressing reporters, Fadnavis admitted that there was a delay in the Monorail project, and that the cost had escalated. However, at the same time, he made it clear that the project was entrusted with the PAC, and as far as the state is concerned, it would conduct an inquiry, if necessary.

The CM lauded the work done for the Northern arm, and said that it had been completed in record time of six months. He also said that in future, the government will reward such work, and also consider penalising those responsible for such delay.

He pointed out that travelling on the flyover would not only save fuel, but also help in solving traffic snarls at Dharavi, Kurla and adjoining areas. Fadnavis suggested MMRDA officials to construct two iconic buildings in BKC area in the near future, so as to attract investment, so that 'a global financial centre in Mumbai is established'.
