Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis will be performing the puja on Ashtami, which marks the most auspicious day of Durga Puja at Thane's 'Amra Probashi Durga Mandal'.
Amra Probashi which is in the 14th year of Durga Puja celebration, is readying itself to welcome the goddess. Temples of West Bengal will be the theme of the mandal in 2016. "The art work found in most temples of West Bengal will be used as the theme of decoration, where an eco-friendly idol of Durga will be installed," said Shubhasis Das, founder trustee of Amra Probashi.
The idol has been made by Shubhojit Das, an artisan from Nadia district West Bengal, using ganga maati (clay). The lights have been sourced from Chandannagar to adorn the premises of the mandal at the Hiranandani estate. The highlight of the celebration is slated to be the Puja upchar done by the Chief Minister on October 8. "Our CM has graciously accepted our invitation to come for the puja on ashtami," Das said.
The three day celebration beginning October 8, will see distribution of bhog (prasad) to the devotees visiting the pandal. On October 10, Jagpreet, Rupali and Bishakh Jyoti, finalists of Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2016 will perform to regale the crowd.
