Taking cue from the Modi government at the centre, the Fadnavis-led state government has also decided to create the 'Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on the line of centre government. This department will employment oriented professionals as well as entrepreneurs.
After coming in power in centre, Modi created the Skill Development and entrepreneurship separate and new department. Rajiv Pratap Ruddy is the minister of state (independent) of this department in centre. It is part of the Make in India mission. By creating new department, Modi wants to make the India has as a global production hub.
In the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, chief minister Fadnavis decided to appoint principal secretary level official post for this said department. "World is changing rapidly and subsequently, their demands as well. To mold ourselves with the changing world, we need to create the professionals that will fit with the criteria of the industry. So, the large number of unemployed youths will get the jobs. Currently, the pass-out students from the colleges are not meeting the demand of the industry so the unemployment numbers is increasing each year. Now, this new department will fill this gap by creating trained professionals. Besides, this department will also work to create as many as entrepreneur's. So, we should not only create the job seekers but creators as well. It will boost our and India's economy," said the Sena minister who was part of the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

"This erstwhile department has been later on merged with the higher and technical education department and even cancelled its principal secretary post. However, Skill Development and Entrepreneur department will work with planning by catering the demand of the industry and changing itself as per the need of the world," said Mantralaya official requested anonymity.
