Cloth sales agent arrested for cheating

The sales agent of a cloth manufacturing company was arrested by the MRA Marg Police for cheating his company to the tune of Rs 75 lakh. The accused, Mohamed Khalil Nusrat Sayyed, 42, who was an employee of Khatav Makanji Spinning and Weaving Company, promised to sell cloths manufactured by the company and took delivery of cloths, but did not pay the company.

The complainant, Dinesh Udeshi of Khatav Makanji Shipping and Weaving Company from Ballard Pier, approached the MRA Police and lodged a complaint against Sayyed, who is a resident of Thane. The complainant told the police that Sayyed had promised the company he would pay a ?good price for its cloth and took delivery of the same. He, however, never gave any money to the company.

Police said, after investigating the matter, they had found that Sayyed had taken cloths worth Rs 75 lakh from the company under the pretext of selling it to his client in Gujarat, but never gave the company any money.

Senior inspector Ashok Jagdale of MRA Marg station said the accused had been arrested for cheating and criminal breach of trust. Police have now started the recovery process. The accused allegedly sold the cloth to over 12 people. While some have paid him money, others are yet to pay.
