An SSC student helped nab a suspected drug dealer on Wednesday. The student had learned through his friends about the hideout of a drug dealer and informed the JJ Marg police about it. The police then raided the hideout, but didn't get anything as the suspect, Ejaz Supariwala, had by then flushed down the contraband (in the toilet).

According to the police, the student had told his mother that his friend had told him that someone in JJ Marg area was supplying Mephedrone (MD) tablets and that this tablet helped in concentrating on studies.

The boy's mother then informed the police, who planned a raid. "The boy went as a customer to the area near Fire Brigade at Bhendi Bazaar. There he met Supariwala who took him to a room inside Peru Lane in the nearby Pathanwadi area. Once the boy was inside, the police team raided the place. By the time we managed to gain access to the room, Supariwala had flushed down the contraband in his possession," said an officer in JJ Marg police station.

The police seized a small amount of charas from Supariwala and booked him under relevant charges (consumption of drugs).

In another case, Oshiwara police on Thursday arrested 32-year-old Jhakir Sharif Sayyed, a resident of Pascal Colony, Saeedbhai Chawl in Jogeshwari (E), for allegedly possessing two kilograms of MD worth Rs 25 lakh.
According to the police, Sayyed was arrested from opposite Lotus Park building in Jogeshwari (W) around 11am on receipt of specific information. "The Worli unit of the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the city police has once before arrested Sayyed for possessing charas. In that case, he was convicted for six years," said an officer in Oshiwara police station.
