City students shine, bag ranks in JEE (Adv)

City boy Rahul Bhardwaj bagged the AIR 20 at the exams with a score of 320 out of 366 marks

With the results of JEE (Adv) exams being declared, several students from the city have bagged ranks in the top 500 this year. City boy Rahul Bhardwaj bagged the AIR 20 at the exams with a score of 320 out of 366 marks.

Bhardwaj, a resident of Colaba's Navy Nagar, wants to take up Computer Science at IIT Bombay.

"I knew that I would get a good score but this rank comes as a pleasant surprise. While there was some anxiety in the beginning, I gained confidence in the last few months after the preparations were almost complete," said Bhardwaj. Rahul wants to research on Artificial intelligence.

Arjit Jain, who studies at IITians PACE secured AIR 54, another city topper. "I was expecting a better rank based on my paper but since IITs are offering bonus marks for ambiguous questions this year, I have fallen many ranks. Hopefully my marks are good enough to get a seat in the CS department of IIT-B.

Sravya Devulapalli, also a student of FIIT JEE was one of the top scorers amongst girls with AIR 595. "When I started preparing for JEE, there was no expectation at all. I was always inclined towards creative subjects like music, sketching etc but also liked Maths and decided to give JEE a shot. Consistent studies helped me achieve the feat" she said.

Auto driver's son qualifies exam

Dhananjay Subhashchandra Tiwari, son of an auto driver in Thane cracked the JEE (Adv) exam with AIR 1,364. Tiwari, a student of IITians PACE attributed the success to his family. "My father struggled very hard to make ends meet for us and supported me in all possible ways for my studies. I am happy that I could make it this far and aim to get into IIT Bombay for an M Tech dual degree programme in mechanical or electrical engineer.
