City's richest Ganpati insured for Rs 264.25 cr

An Insurance of Rs 264.25 crore has been taken by Mumbai's richest Ganesh Mandal. GSB Sena Mandal, King Circle, considered the richest Mandal in the city. It has received the highest ever insurance for its Mandal, idol, ornaments, volunteers, and workers too.

The insurance covers attacks from terrorists and riots. Even the fruits, vegetables and grocery have been covered including 2,244 workers/volunteers with Rs 10 lakh insurance each. This Mandal celebrates 5-day Ganesh Chaturthi and thus its secured with an insurance of Rs 52.85 crore for each day.

The insurance includes special perils like fire, burglary, theft, accidental damages, external damages and terrorism for gold and ornaments. For this, the Mandal is insured for Rs 18.5 crore.

The pandal, which includes CCTV, furniture, fixtures, and computers is covered from fire, natural calamities, riots, strike, rail or road damages, electrical damage, earthquakes with an amount of Rs 1 crore.

The Mandal has even taken care of its devotees as every visitor is covered with a total coverage of Rs 20 Crore.

The insurance starts on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi and ends only after the immersion and jewels belonging to the idol reaches the safe deposit, said a member of the Mandal.
