Mumbai Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar's wait for his official residence continues. Mahadeshwar had expressed his wish to move to the official residence on Tuesday, but Ex-Mayor Snehal Ambekar has still not vacated the Mayor's Bungalow at Shivaji Park.

However, civic sources claimed that Ambekar has requested Mahadeshwar that she wanted to stay in the Bungalow until March 16 and will shift on March 17. "I have no idea about Mayor willing to shift on Tuesday. He told me that he will come on Saturday. I will vacate the place by Friday", said Ambekar.

However, when asked what the new location would be for the Mayor's official home, she said she had no idea as civic administration was yet to come up with the alternative.

While official address of Mayor's Bungalow is all set to change in few months as it will be turned into Balasaheb Thackeray Memorial, until then, the newly elected Mayor will stay at the iconic location at Shivaji Park. Civic administration has suggested the alternative option for Mayor's Bungalow inside Byculla Zoo. However, Shiv Sena leaders have objected to the location as the precinct being declared as 'silence zone' and the Mayor's residence will witness several functions, visitors, political meetings and vehicular flow.

"This might disturb the animals even when civic administration claims that the animal enclosures are far from the residence. We have asked for more options as we haven't taken any decision as yet", said Yashwant Jadhav, Leader of the House.

A senior civic official said that we have clearly given them the option of the Bungalow in the zoo premises. "We understand that the bungalow is smaller as compared to present Mayor's Bungalow and the requirement of a political figure is much higher. We haven't started any work until the Mayor gives his nod," said an official.
