City builder Niranjan Hiranandani returns to alma mater Campion School after 50 years

Remembering the days spent at Campion, Dr Niranjan Hiranandani, MD of Hiranandani group gave a speech at the event on the completion of 75 years of his school on Tuesday.

Talking to DNA, Hiranandani said, "I finished my schooling and left Campion school in 1967 and have come to attend the platinum jubilee event after 50 years. I have tremendously fond memories of what I got educated in terms of how the school contributed to my character building. The school is consistently certified as the best school in the last five years. But I don't think that's the only thing that one looks at.

The second part is that the people are taught to be good people and that unfortunately is not there in today's education process and that's what Campion brings to the table. I am taught what is good character, I am taught how should I have good leadership qualities. These character building qualities that the teachers inculcate make Campion what it is today. I think that is very critical in terms of education."

Recalling the time spent at school, Hiranandani further added, "I remember two stories of school days — when I was in secondary school and was walking one day in school premises, somebody came and hit my back very hard. I turned around to see if any boy was there and it was my Physical Training teacher. He said 'Niranjan you are so tall and good, you should put your shoulders back and not walk with a hunch. Why are you walking with a hunch ?'.

Even today whenever I hunch because I am tall, I remember my school teacher who taught me that I can't walk without a hunch. So I stand erect today simply because I was not taught but educated.
