The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) of Navi Mumbai has arrested one assistant engineer of City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from a manager of a private company on Friday.
The company had taken the contract of maintenance of Kharghar golf course, which was developed by the town planning agency, two years ago.
According to the ACB officials, the accused, Sandeep Dhamne, had demanded the bribe from the manager for clearing a bill which was pending for past several months. Dhamne was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe in his office on Friday morning.
"When we got to know about the bribe demand, we told the complainant to go ahead, according to our plan. Due to his cooperation, we finally managed to nab the accused red-handed. An FIR has been registered against him with Kharghar police station. He will be produced before the court on Saturday," said Vivek Joshi, deputy superintendent of police (ACB, Navi Mumbai).
