On Thursday, as students of the Science stream walked out of their exam centres after writing their class XII chemistry paper, some seem satisfied while others quickly opened their textbooks and guidebooks to find answers for questions they were failed to answer or got wrong.

"After the physics exam, this paper was easy. All questions were right out of the textbooks and it wasn't lengthy. So this gave us enough time to write the paper properly," said Karan P, student of IIT-Pace junior college, Andheri. The class XII students, are the first batch appearing for the revised syllabus introduced last year.

On the other hand, there were students who were not happy with the paper. "The numerical problems and the chemical equations were tougher than expected. So, I could attempt only around 60 out of 70 marks.

Hopefully, what I have written will fetch me at least 55 marks. I am hoping that the internal marks will help me get a decent score," said Sai Prasad, a student of Dhyanganga College, Thane.

In the Mumbai division, over 78,000 students appeared for the chemistry exam. Other exams which took place on Thursday were Organisation of Commerce and History for which over 1.59 lakh and 35,000 students appeared respectively.

87 cheating cases on Thursday
A total of 87 cases were registered in the state in both the morning and afternoon session. Of these, three cases were from the Mumbai division, which also includes Thane and Raigad. All the three cases were from the Thane region.
