A day after a three-year-old girl was left unattended in her school bus, the Chembur-based Green Acres Academy (TGGA) has assured to strengthen security measures. The school has also made the bus service an optional feature for parents, unlike earlier when it was mandatory.

The incident has shaken parents, many of whom didn't let their children attend school on Wednesday. Piyush Jain, father of the three-year-old girl Anushi, was also called in to the school. "I and my wife went to the school and were assured of the safety of our children. Anushi was shaken from yesterday's episode and didn't attend school today. Since the school has given it to us in writing, we have decided to not file a case against it," he said, adding that he is yet to decide if he wants to discontinue the school bus service.

Meanwhile, principal Rachna Laxminarayanan has apologised on behalf of the school bus service: "We are holding a PTA meeting to create a committee which will oversee selection and audit of bus services. In the meantime, the vendor has been told to permit parents to ride with the students to ensure their peace of mind."
