A 50-year-old man and his 40-year-old wife were found dead of stab wounds at their Chembur residence on Sunday. The deceased persons have been identified as Naseem Bano Shaikh and Ghulam Mohammad Shaikh, both residents of Babhai Naka in Chembur.

According to the police, when Naseem’s 17-year-old daughter arrived at her residence, the house was locked from inside. She repeatedly pressed the door-bell but nobody opened the door. Suspecting something amiss, she intimated the neighbours who then broke the door. Naseem and Ghulam were found lying in pool of blood. The two were rushed to the hospital, where Naseem was declared dead on arrival, while Ghulam died undergoing treatment. Both had multiple stab wounds.

“Naseem’s sister had registered an FIR stating that Ghulam had killed Naseem. Naseem had seven stab wounds, while Ghulam had at least 12 stab wounds. We are probing how Ghulam sustained multiple stab wounds if he had killed his wife. Our doubts will be cleared once we get post-mortem and forensic laboratory’s report,” said Sudhir Gadkari, investigation officer of the case.
