Chembur BPCL blast: 10 fire victims discharged from Sushrut hospital

Five of the fire victims were discharged on Wednesday night , while another five were discharged on Thursday evening. On Wednesday, 21 victims were kept in in the intensive care unit (ICU) ward.

Out of the 45 people who sustained injuries in the BPCL fire, 10 workers were discharged on Thursday. The injured were rushed to Sushrut Hospital, Chembur on Wednesday. Doctors treating the fire victims said that all of them are stable.

Five of the fire victims were discharged on Wednesday night , while another five were discharged on Thursday evening. On Wednesday, 21 victims were kept in in the intensive care unit (ICU) ward.

Two of injured victims underwent surgeries on Thursday. Patrik Pratap, CEO of Sushrut Hospital said, "People have suffered injuries due to various flying objects. Two patients from the ICU underwent surgeries. One for his fractured left hand and another patient had multiple injuries on his face. He had to undergo multiple facial surgeries. Both are in stable condition now. The other three patients in the ICU ward will be shifted to the general ward."

Most of the injured patients suffered blunt injuries on their face, hands, and legs. Pratap added, "Six others would be discharged in two days. All are recovering well and are in stable condition."

The victims said that aluminium sheets fell on them while they were trying to escape from the blaze.

After the boiler blast, family members of the injured workers were informed through a telephonic conversation by the company members about the incident.
