In a shocking incident, the charred remains of a teenaged girl and a suitcase were found along a road leading towards the Vangaon dam in Dahanu. According to the police, the girl was first killed and packed inside the suitcase, which was then set ablaze. The remains will be sent to the Kalina laboratory for forensic analysis.

Village Vangaon locals first noticed the remains and informed the police. The cops arrived to find the girl's body charred to bones. The suitcase had been set aflame using some inflammable substance.

"As soon as the locals informed us, we rushed to the spot, from where a foul stench was emanating. We only found bones and some pieces of a suitcase. The girl must have been killed first and then stashed inside the suitcase, which was set ablaze using a large quantity of some inflammable substance," said a Vangaon police official.

Meanwhile, no missing complaint was registered at the local police station. The cops suspect the accused must have gone there on the pretext of visiting the dam and would have disposed off the body at least two days ago.

"We have registered the case under section 302 (murder) and 201 (destroying evidence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). We will check the missing complaints in the districts and then contact the Gujarat police to identify the victim," said Arun Phegade, assistant inspector, Vangaon police station. "We will send the remains for DNA testing and analysis. We are investigating further by checking the tower locations and CCTV camera footage of the area," he added.
