Charles Antony leaves audience mesmerised at 'Sufi Wah Rafi'

The Progressive Thane Residents Welfare Association's (PTRA) musical event, Sufi Wah Rafi, received an overwhelming response from city's music lovers, and dna was one of the media partners. The show, which was held on Saturday at Kashinath Ghanekar, was a big hit among the residents who enjoyed the show thoroughly. With a capacity of 1,200 people, the auditorium was abuzz with captivating music as there were many who did not get a seat, yet were seen standing inside the hall to enjoy the show.

K Kumar, PTRA president, said, "The show was liked by one and all, though we were not expecting that the show will garner so much attention, it completely took us by surprise."

Kumar said the visitors demanded such shows should happen on a regular basis and he has assured that the organisation is planning similar grand shows for doctors, corporate and others from the area.

Among many performers, Charles Antony, the master of 14 languages, stole the show as he mesmerised the audience with his extraordinary performenace. With an elephantine memory that has more than 1,000 classical songs stored, Antony was nothing less than a magic for people who heard him in different languages and classical as well.

Sufi Wah Rafi had so much on its list that on the demand of the audience the show not only went up till 9pm, but was also exteneded by a few minutes.

Somit Pal, who attended the event with his friends, said, "It was one of the best shows and difference was songs sung by Charles Antony in different languages. We enjoyed the show and we hope that such shows happen more frequently in the city."

With organisers keen on bringing more such shows to Thanekars, people, too, are ready to extend all th possible help needed to make these events a big hit in the city. The audience even felt that Thane is a cultural city and they should work towards retaining the tag of the city.
