Charge sheet against Sunil Shitap in Sai Siddhi collapse case

The Parksite police on Friday have filed a charge sheet in Vikhroli Court against Shiv Sena strongman Sunil Shitap, interior designer Ranjit Aagale and his employee Anil Mandal in connection with the Sai Siddhi building collapse in which 17 people had died and several others had sustained injuries.

According to the police, a 2500-pages charge sheet has been filed against the three accused within 60 days. The police said the charge sheet includes statements of victims, BMC officials, neighbours, eye witnesses and other related to the building. in all more than 100 statements have been attached in the chargesheet and the police have made the labours at the construction site as a witness in the case.

"We have attached several documents related to the building including reports from structural audit report from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, forensic science laboratory, Kalina and several other technical reports, and agreement of renovation work at the ground floor of building between Shitap and Aagale. We have also added the design plan of the building and few photographs that have been retrieved from the Whatsapp, these photos and design plan will act as the main evidence against the accused along with the statements of the labours who were working on the site on instructions of Mandal, Shitap and Aagale," said a senior police officer adding that they are yet to receive reports from FSL and other agencies which will be added in the charge sheet later.

"We have filed a charge sheet under the relevant sections 304(2) of Indian Penal code along with other sections. No sections have been dropped," said Lakhmi Gautam, additional commissioner of Police.

Shitap and other two have been accused of causing the building collapse as they had allegedly tampered with the pillars of the building during renovation work.
