The death toll of the Chandivali building collapse touched seven on Thursday when the dead body of a labourer was pulled from under the debris. A search operation for one more labourer is underway.

Avinash Dharmadhikari, Senior Police Inspector, Sakinaka police station, said, "Search operation is being conducted as one person is still missing. We suspect the man is trapped under the debris."

The Sakinaka police have asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) to submit a detailed report about the incident after which the police will make arrests in the case.

"An FIR has been registered. The debris which accumulated after the collapse will have to be cleared first so we can confirm the total number of workers who were inside the building during the collapse," Dharmadhikari said.

On August 26, the Krishna Business Park in Chandivali collapsed allegedly due to the weight of the cranes stationed on the building. Many labourers working on the demolition died in the mishap. The rescue operation is being conducted by the fire brigade department and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
