The recent furore over the installation of CCTV cameras in the boys hostel of St Xavier's College has been resolved between the students and the administration. On Thursday, the principal met with the hostelites and listened to their complaints.

"The CCTV cameras had been installed to discourage theft and not to invade our privacy," said a hostelite, "The furore occurred because the common room could only be accessed till 10.30 pm and we are not allowed to be in another's room post 10pm. However, most students don't sleep at 10 pm. But when we explained this to Fr Frazer, he provided us with a separate class room that we can access till 12am."

This move mollified the hostelites and the CCTVs will remain in the hostel for the security reasons. When dna contacted Fr Frazer for his comments, he refused by saying that he did not want to talk about this matter.
