Aarey Colony police have found a crucial piece of evidence which they believe will help unravel the mystery behind the gruesome murder of 24-year-old Brandon Gonsalves, whose decapitated, naked body was found in the forests of Aarey Colony on December 22.

The police have found a CCTV footage which shows a woman and a car following Gonsalves, moments before he was murdered. Aarey Colony police are now interrogating the family and friends of Gonsalves to identify the woman from the footage.

"In the footage, Gonsalves can be seen walking and a woman wearing a white Punjabi suit following him. She is seen giving directions to the driver of a white Audi, also following Gonsalves.

Confirming this, the investigating officer said, "We do have a CCTV footage in which a woman and a car can be seen following Gonsalves. Efforts are on to obtain further details of both. We are enquiring people known to Gonsalves to ascertain if anyone can identify the woman and the car captured in the footage."

No bloodstains were found at the spot where Gonsalves' body was discovered. The police, therefore, suspect that Gonsalves was taken in the car that was following him on December 19 and his body was dumped at the spot later.

"If Gonsalves was beheaded at the spot where his body was found, it would have traces of blood. The absence of any blood stain confirms our suspicion about the deceased being murdered elsewhere. Unfortunately, the other two CCTV cameras located strategically in the area, were non-functional on the day of the incident," said another police officer.

The police also claim that Gonsalves' body was cut twice — the first time he was beheaded from the shoulder, the second time his neck and throat were severed from his jaw. His tongue, neck, and larynx (voice box) were missing from the body.

Meanwhile, police are in touch with practitioners of black magic to ascertain the connection between the missing parts of his body and the two cross symbols that were found carved with a sharp object, on his forehead and right hand. "We are exploring this angle and have inquired several tantrics. So far, no connection could be established between the two. However, we also suspect that the assailants were outsiders, and hence, are also questioning black magicians from other cities as well," the officer said.

The police so far have scrutinised more than 73 CCTV cameras installed at different areas around Aarey Colony, along with the cameras installed near the residence of the deceased.
