In what could bring further trouble to the six jail staff of Byculla prison arrested in the Manjula Shetye murder case, the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has retrieved footage from nine CCTV cameras installed in the prison, in which the accused can be seen dragging Shetye out of her barrack.

The footage also shows how other inmates of the prison, including Sheena Bora murder case, accused Indrani Mukerjea, damaging prison property during the riots that broke out a day after Shetye was assaulted.

Sources said that the FSL has submitted a report on tests on the DNA samples collected in the case. However, a report on viscera samples is awaited from the FSL. The report submitted by the FSL to the Crime Branch states that no sexual assault had taken place and that Shetye was bleeding profusely and her own blood has been found on her body.

"The video which has been retrieved by the FSL has revealed that the accused jail staff were present during the assault and are seen dragging Manjula out from the barrack," said a senior crime branch officer.

"The video will also help us strengthen our case against the female prison inmates who went on a rampage. Indrani Mukerjea and her co-inmates are seen rioting in the video. We will soon make few arrests for rioting," said the officer.
