After 72 hours of confusion and chaos, Shridhar Mani and his daughter today felt a sense of ease.

Mani’s daughter is a class X student at Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir in Mumbai’s Borivali area and had appeared for just-concluded CBSE exams.

Ever since the paper leak came to light on Wednesday, Mani and his daughter were among lakhs of people, who were unsure about future course of events.

But on Friday, the CBSE cleared all doubts when it announced the re-examination of the class XII and class X students.

While the class XII Economics exam will be conducted on April 25, the CBSE said that the class X re-examination would be conducted in Delhi and Haryana, in case it feels the need to do so.

The CBSE announcement sparked celebrations in Mumbai with many class X students and their parents hailing the decision.

Mani’s daughter and her friends gathered in Borivali and cut cake to celebrate the occasion.

Talking to DNA, Mani said, “The parents came together today to decide the further course of action for Central Board of Secondary Education re-conducting the class X Mathematics paper after it was leak. While the leak happened in Delhi and Haryana, CBSE declare re-examination for all students which was not fair. But since now the news comes that no exam will be conducted for Mumbai, we are happy and cancelling our protest of tomorrow.”

Another parent, Manishkumar Ghelani, of class X student, said, “Around 500 parents and students were going to protest tomorrow. But it’s good that the news came in that re-exams will not happen for Mumbai. My daughter was having Sanskrit paper on Monday and she like other students were in tremendous pressure after re-exam was declared.”

Rupja Banerjee, a class X, student, said, “I can’t tell you how happy I am. My mother asked me to start preparing again, but I told her that I will now start preparation of re-exam of Maths only when I will feel.”

Around 500 parents, students of class X CBSE from Mumbai came together on Friday and decided to protest tomorrow in front of education minister office but got cancelled in the evening. They had written a letter to Education Minister Vinod Tawde and Union HRD minister Prakash Jawdekar requesting to exclude Mumbai from conducting re-exam of Mathematics paper.
