The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the sensational Sheena Bora murder case, will look into the circumstances that lead to the hospitalisation of prime accused Indrani Mukerjea. The CBI on Friday requested the state government to share all the related information and documents pertaining to the incident.

According to sources in the CBI, the agency has officially requested the state to preserve the samples of Indrani's stomach wash and urine, as well as her blood samples. The doctors at JJ hospital had collected these samples after Indrani was admitted there after she allegedly overdosed on antedepressants.

Meanwhile, confusion over the two contradictory reports on her health continued to prevail, with the Kalina forensic laboratory, in its report, saying no poisonous substance was found in any of the samples of Indrani they tested, while the Hinduja hospital report of Indrani's urine sample is said to have tested positive for benzodiazepine measuring 2,088 ng/mL which is 10 times the permissible limit of 200 ng/mL.

"We have made the request to the Maharashtra government to preserve the samples, as we will also be making our own inquiries into the incident of Indrani collapsing in jail and the reason/s behind it," said a CBI officer privy to the investigation.

"We have also told the state government to share with us the detailed report of the inquiry conducted into the incident by the jail authorities."

An inquiry was ordered by the state, after Indrani collapsed inside the Byculla women's jail on October 2, to ascertain if there were any lapses from jail authorities. A team of CBI officers on Friday visited the scene of crime in Raigad where Bora's body was allegedly dumped by Indrani and the two other accused.

"We have started our investigation in the case and, for that, we have visited the crime scene and are collecting evidence and making fresh inquiries."
